Redshift 6 Firmware Update 1.5

The effect section is finally here with four high quality digital effects, along with a new VCF engine, the Mirror Twins. Check out detailed release notes below and grab the firmware for: 

Linux

  • You might need to run the updater as sudo depending on serial port permissions

Mac

  • The firmware updater will ask for permissions to access files on a removable volume, you should accept or the update will fail
  • During the update, there’s going to be an eject warning that you can safely ignore
  • Updating might fail intermittently because of a Mac OS driver issue, trying again should help

Windows

  • After you connect the Redshift 6 to a Windows computer with USB for the first time, you might need to reboot before the firmware updater works

    • Press Engine on any page with engines (currently FX & VCF)
    • Or hold the Engine button and press the button for a page with engines

Improvements

  • Added 14 new presets
  • Reorder existing presets and added effects to most of them
  • Double-tapping now toggles parts / FX / Arp on and off
  • Hold one or more part buttons and press Arp/Seq to toggle it on/off for those parts 
  • Unify look of top/bottom panes and add visual dividers between elements
  • Double-tap detection is now slightly less sensitive 
  • More stable BPM display
  • Rename Choose to Select on all pages
  • Only illuminate arrow buttons when they actually do something
  • Mod matrix destinations now default to Off
  • Make it easier to tell if ARP/SEQ & FX are enabled or not 
  • If MIDI clock is received over both USB and DIN, ignore the DIN clock
  • Show env amount on VCF Env page
  • Step Pitch & OSC 2 Tune by fifths & octaves when holding down the pot
  • Adjust BPM faster when holding down the pot
  • UI now runs faster overall

Fixes

  • Potential crash when arpeggiator was stealing notes
  • Illuminate MIDI button when Shift is held
  • Double-tapping a mod source now changes the mod lock instead of adding a via lock
  • Reload did not work when starting from init preset 
  • Fix a timing issue that caused exaggerated pops on large pitch changes 
  • Don’t reset MPE pitch bend on note off 
  • Shift button no longer blinks while held
  • Unused NRPN’s would get routed to the closest used NRPN
  • Ignore global parameter NRPNs except on perform channel, instead of crashing 
  • Don’t crash when selecting Delete when there are no user presets 
  • Pots now start working quicker after bootup
  • Get rid of spurious weird line on Preset page 
  • Voice mode couldn’t be set to Reserved in some instances
  • Fix several edge cases with preset reloading
  • Crash when scrolling to the end of the preset list
  • Minor visual fixes & tweaks
